$10K Reward offered in 2002 cold case

SAN ANTONIO -

Crime Stoppers is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the slaying of George "Diamond" Rodriguez.

The reward, though, is only good from Feb. 6 through Feb. 12.

Rodriguez, 46, was killed Aug. 28, 2002, at approximately 3 a.m. behind Nacho's De Knippa bar in the 600 block of San Pedro Avenue. Rodriguez was shot multiple times, police said. His body was found on a porch behind the bar several hours later. Homicide detectives said they believe the suspect or suspects fled the scene in a dark colored van or sport utility vehicle.

The San Antonio Police Department, in conjunction with Crime Stoppers and Clear Channel Communications, will post ads featuring Rodriguez's picture on digital billboards across San Antonio from Monday, Feb. 6 through Sunday, Feb. 12. The $10,000 reward will only be offered during the billboard campaign and is part of an initiative by SAPD to solve cold cases.

Anyone with information is urged to call 210--224-STOP (7867) or toll free at 1-800-233-7867. Callers may remain anonymous.
