Rodeo ride-a-long follows DWI crackdown
BCSO looking for drunk drivers leaving SA Rodeo
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said Friday it’s making a concentrated push to find drunk drivers during the Rodeo this year.
Deputies are focusing a lot of effort on the east side in areas and major roadways near the AT&T Center.
“This is one of the busiest times of the year for us,” said Sargent Mario Cervantes.
Deputies said they see a higher volume of drunk drivers than normal, as revelers take part in the festivities.
“We want everyone to have a good time, but don’t drink too much, plain and simple,” said Cervantes.
KSAT rode with deputies on Thursday night and witnessed over two dozen traffic stops, with a few resulting in DUI arrests.
One man, John Allen, was arrested on suspicion of DUI, after which deputies discovered that he had recently been in prison for the same offense.
“You never know who you’re going to stop,” said Deputy Miguel Avila.
