SA man buys Facebook ad to get dates

      SAN ANTONIO -

Facebook users may have many motivations to spend time on the site, but a local man has found it’s a great tool to get a date, provided you approach it in a high-tech way.

Jordan Rinke, a 27-year-old cloud manager at Rackspace, said "It's what I do professionally. It is sort of like how my life is built to enhance and use technology as well as possible, so I applied it to my personal life and we’ll see what happens."

Rinke placed an ad on Facebook, a process that took just a few minutes, and cost 50 cents for 1,000 impressions.

Having his ad appear for 24 hours cost $70, but he estimates that 100,000 people have now seen his face.

Of those, 30,000 have gone to a link on his website, datingjordan.com, which is filled with pictures, descriptions and testimonials about Rinke from his friends.

Much of the content is light-hearted and silly, but he hopes will appeal to the right woman.

It all starts on Facebook with an ad with the catchphrase, "Are you awesome?"

"There will be a lot of people who’ll say, 'Screw that,' but the ones who click on that will be, theoretically, the ones that I find interesting," he said.

For those who want the shortcut, Jordan Rinke describes himself as an honest and reasonable vegan who cooks, dances and tells a great dirty joke.
