SAISD Board has work to do
With the resignation of superintendent Robert Duron, the San Antonio Independent School District now has some work to do in finding a qualified replacement.
The board has taken fire in recent months, and rightly so.
Managing $515 million in public funds is a great responsibility, and the board needs to do right by the kids and families that the bond money is meant to serve.
While Duron's tenure included decreased dropout rates and increased teacher salaries, there's still plenty of work to be done when it comes to improving facilities and academic standards.
It's up to the SAISD board to find responsible and experienced candidates who can work effectively while keeping their eyes on the right priorities in a district with challenges ahead.
I am Phil Lane. Let us know what you think.
