The San Antonio Independent School District board voted to end its contract with PROACT, the search firm that helped the district find a superintendent.

The sole finalist, Manuel Isquierdo, withdrew his candidacy days after he was chosen. A series of legal and financial questions about his background were raised by the media.

The board initially stood by Isquierdo, but he took his name out of the running.

Board members will have to hire a new search firm and begin the hunt for a superintendent. They're expected to discuss that at their May 15 meeting.
