Three people have been charged with child abuse, after police said a 2-year-old girl and a 6-year-old girl were found malnourished and starving.
Jeremiah Coleman, 29 (pictured), and his girlfriend, Kayela McClintick, 22, along with their live-in babysitter, Joann Brown, 23, were all charged with two counts of injury to a child.
McClintick is the mother of both girls, while Coleman is the father of the 2-year-old.
Police said that an anonymous complaint prompted officers and Child Protective Services to conduct an investigation.
The 2-year-old was brought to a doctor, who determined the child was starving after she was seen with chunks of hair missing and visible abuse marks on her skin, police said.
Investigators said Coleman and McClintick hid the 6-year-old in a closet when police and CPS investigators came looking for her.
She was eventually located, however, and told investigators she would be "punished" every time she went to the refrigerator.
She also said her younger sister would only be allowed to eat once per day.
Coleman called the allegations false, and said a real estate deal gone wrong led to a woman filing false charges against the three.
The trio has been booked in Bexar County jail.
