SAN ANTONIO -

Police arrested a man who refused to use the crosswalk, then tore up a ticket and ran away from officers.

Danton Smith, 26, is charged with evading arrest in connection with the Nov. 7 incident.

An arrest affidavit stated officers stopped Smith in the 4800 block of Goldfield after seeing him cross the street without using the crosswalk.

The affidavit stated police issued a ticket to Smith, but as he was leaving them, he jaywalked again.

According to the affidavit, when officers approached him a second time, insisting he use the crosswalk, they said Smith replied, “Whatever.“

The affidavit stated Smith then tore up the ticket, tossed the pieces into the air and ran away. A warrant later was issued for his arrest.
