Man charged in girlfriend's kidnapping
San Antonio police arrested a man on a charge of aggravated kidnapping after he they say he forced his girlfriend into a vehicle at gunpoint.
Donnie Ray Dennis, 27, was taken into custody Sunday, a day after a witness reported the kidnapping.
An arrest affidavit stated the witness told police she had been trying to reach the 24-year-old woman by phone.
The woman said the victim finally called her back, crying, and with Dennis yelling in the background.
According to the affidavit, the witness told police she had heard Dennis threaten to kill the woman on several occasions and had witnessed him physically assault her.
After receiving the phone call from Dennis' girlfriend, the witness rushed over to her Northeast Side home and saw Dennis holding the woman at gunpoint, then forcing her into her own truck and driving away, the affidavit stated.
The witness said Dennis pointed the gun at her at one point, according to the affidavit.
There is no mention in the affidavit of what happened to Dennis' girlfriend after his arrest.
Dennis was charged with aggravated kidnapping.
