SAPD: Shot that hit home came from highway

SAN ANTONIO -

San Antonio police believe a bullet that was fired into an apartment on the far West side came from a passing vehicle.

The bullet slammed through the dry wall of a third floor unit at The Lodge at Westover Hills apartments around 4 a.m. Tuesday, ricocheted off a kitchen cabinet and lodged in a clothes dryer.

A couple who was asleep in the bedroom woke up from the noise and called 911, police said.

No one was hurt.

The apartment complex, in the 9800 block of Hyatt Resort Dr., is located across the road from the Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort.

The back of the complex overlooks Highway 151 near Westover Hills Road.

Police said the shot most likely came from a car passing by on that highway.

They said the shooting appeared to be random.
