SAN ANTONIO -

A San Antonio police officer was critically injured after being struck by a truck while working an accident scene Sunday evening.

Police said the officer was placing cones at a crash site near Loop 410 and Evers when a pickup truck veered and struck him.

The 5-year veteran officer was rushed to University Hospital by EMS.

Police said he had gone into surgery, but there were no further reports on his condition.

The man who struck the officer was questioned, but not immediately charged. Officials said he did not seem to be impaired.

The injured officer's name had not been released.
