President Barack Obama has promised quick action on new gun control laws following the school shootings in Newtown, Conn., and the prospect of tougher gun laws seems to have sparked a run on guns.

The SAXET gun show on the city's west side opened its doors at 9 a.m. Saturday. The lines to get in had formed well before that and vehicles stretched all the way to the highway, backing up the 410 access road near Marbach Road.

It was evident on Saturday how many people want to get their hands on guns. Some customers said it took them nearly 45 minutes to park, and the line to get into the show wrapped around the building.

Customers said they noticed gun prices have risen. They said they will have to decide whether to spend more to buy a gun now before new regulations are put into place, or wait until prices come down.
