SAN ANTONIO -

A San Antonio police officer who was struck by a truck while directing traffic will be honored Wednesday morning by Police Chief William McManus and other members of the traffic unit.

Traffic officer Jonathan Esquivel was injured last February while he was diverting traffic at a crash scene on Loop 410 near Callaghan Road.

A police investigation concluded the pickup truck driver was texting.

Esquivel was in a coma for two months. He suffered a shattered pelvis and several broken bones.

Esquivel has been undergoing rehabilitation and hopes to return to work soon.
