The San Antonio Spurs have released star forward Stephen Jackson, according to multiple reports Friday afternoon.
Since he wasn't released before the March 1 deadline, he will not be eligible sign with another team for the playoffs. He did not play in San Antonio's last three games.
The regular season ends on Wednesday.
Jackson made Forbes' "Most Overpaid" list, which he disputed by saying he was "underpaid" for his whole career. He was in the last year of a contract paying him $10 million.
According to SI.com, Jackson averaged 6.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 19.5 minutes per game this season.
San Antonio is currently the second seed in the Western Conference, trailing the Thunder by only half a game.
They have four games left to close the gap.
