San Antonio fugitive nabbed after struggle with task force
Antonio Gonzales wanted on several charges including assault, evading arrest
The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force has caught up with a San Antonio man who was on the run since January and wanted on several charges.
Antonio Gonzales, 44, was arrested Monday night on San Antonio's West Side.
Gonzales was wanted on 3 counts of possession with the intent to distribute cocaine, 2 counts of aggravated assault, 1 count of driving while intoxicated, and 1 count of evading arrest with a vehicle.
Task force officials said Gonzales was involved in an argument on Jan. 16 at a home in the 3500 block of San Fernando Street.
Officers said Gonzales got into a fight with another man, then fired shots at the man's home. A woman inside the home was shot in the leg and Gonzales fled the scene.
Task force officers determined Gonzales was hiding in a West Side home and spotted him Monday in a car near the residence.
Officers parked their vehicles behind Gonzales, but said Gonzales put his vehicle in reverse and rammed one of the task force officer’s vehicle.
Other task force officers surrounded Gonzales and took him into custody after a brief struggle to remove him from his vehicle.
A task force press release stated Gonzales has been known to be armed with a gun and is a confirmed drug dealer with an extensive criminal history.
