Leticia Pimentel, 36, has been arrested on a charge of criminal mischief after she allegedly came close to hitting a pedestrian, then angrily drove through a hospital’s parking lot gate, breaking the gate arm.
Police with the University of Texas Health Science Center-San Antonio had been investigating the case since last month.
According to an arrest warrant affidavit, a UT System police officer saw Pimentel back out of a parking space in the Medical Arts Research Center on March 20 and nearly hit a pedestrian.
The officer then approached her, telling her to slow down, which made her even more upset, the affidavit stated.
Pimentel then “peeled out,” the affidavit stated, and was told by a worker at the exit gate to wait for an officer.
The affidavit stated that instead of waiting, Pimentel drove her car through the gate arm, breaking it. Police estimate the damage at about $275.
Investigators said they found out who Pimentel was because she had brought her daughter to the hospital for an appointment.
However, the affidavit said, she left before they could meet with a doctor.
UT System police later tracked down Pimentel at her home and arrested her Wednesday.
