San Antonio police nab suspected serial bank robber
Larry Drummer accused of Chase Bank robbery, was subject of SWAT standoff
Larry Drummer, 26, the man who SWAT officers were looking for when they surrounded a Northeast Side apartment building last Friday, has been arrested.
Drummer was taken into custody Sunday on a charge of aggravated robbery. Records show he was released later after posting a $75,000 bond.
An arrest affidavit stated that San Antonio police went to the Dublin Apartments in the 3900 block of Thousand Oaks, looking for Dummer, after receiving information that he might be there.
The affidavit stated that officers had obtained a license plate number from the getaway car used in the Jan. 23 robbery of Chase Bank in the 500 block of NW Loop 410.
An undercover detective had been watching the bank due to previous robberies when he spotted a man with dreadlocks and dark clothing entering the bank, the affidavit stated.
When the detective received word the bank had been robbed, he and a marked patrol car began following the vehicle, the affidavit stated.
Although they did not catch up with the car, they did obtain a license plate number from it, the affidavit stated.
SWAT officers later went to the home affiliated with the license plate and fired tear gas into it, but Drummer was not inside, police said. The affidavit did not mention where he was arrested.
