San Antonio police use spike strip to stop wrong-way driver

SAN ANTONIO -

San Antonio police say they were forced to use a spike strip to stop a wrong-way driver on Interstate 37 Tuesday night.

Officers spotted a woman drive south onto the I-37 northbound lanes at Southcross Boulevard around 11:30 p.m.

Police followed the driver for nearly 18 miles to Donop Road and used a spike strip to finally get the vehicle to stop.

Police arrested the woman and believe she may have been under the influence of pills and alcohol.

Officers said she will face several charges. The woman is in her 20s. Her name has not been released.
