SAN ANTONIO -

Two San Antonio sisters are starting a weight loss and healthy living challenge, by reaching out to kids in their neighborhood on Craigslist.

Alyssa, 8, and Makayla Esparza, 9, said they’re not living as healthy as they could be, and often opt for a video game or the remote control, instead of a physical activity.

The sisters decided to make a change after watching an episode of “The Biggest Loser” on television, which featured kids their own age.

“I'm hoping to at least weigh 71 pounds,” said Alyssa, who currently weighs 91 pounds. “Because it's like, they're supporting me, I'm supporting them. It's better for people to be with you, instead of you just alone in the program.”

The sisters are asking kids who live nearby to join their program, which would meet two to three times a week. During the meetings, participants would exercise together and learn more about healthy eating.

“We play dance central, we walk our dogs and we ride our bikes,” said Makayla. “If I can just help one person that's overweight, and they can keep on doing this, that would be super great.”

There is no cost to participate in the program, however, parental permission is required.
