Slipper wearing suspect sought in attempted robberies on Northwest Side near Interstate 10
A suspect wearing slippers attempted to rob a pair of gas stations off Interstate 10 on the Northwest Side late Monday night, San Antonio police said.
Just after 11 p.m., the suspect went into the Valero store in the 1100 block of Fresno carrying a silver handgun.
The clerk told San Antonio police the suspect was dressed in jeans, a black hooded sweatshirt and slippers.
A few minutes after the Valero attempted robbery, the same man was reported at the Exxon at I-10 and West Avenue.
This time, witnesses reported a man in a baseball cap with slippers, San Antonio police said.
The suspect attempted to rob the cashier when a customer walked into the Exxon.
The suspect opened fire on the customer and fled. The customer was not injured, police said.
Witnesses reported seeing the slipper wearing suspect get into a blue Ford Escort waiting behind the building.
Police have not said if anything was taken during the attempted robberies.
