Mondelez International, best known for for its Oreo cookies, Ritz crackers and Cadberry chocolate, is closing its local operations and laying off approximately 114 people.
The snack giant confirmed it will close its business service center, Mondelez Global LLC, located at 84 Northeast Loop 410.
In a written statement, the company said the closure is a "direct result of the recent spinoff of our North American grocery business (Kraft Foods Group)."
Kraft split its grocery and snack businesses, officially effective in October 2012, and renamed the larger, global snack side as Mondelez International.
Mondelez plans to set up a new business service center in Manila, Philippines, which will process accounts payable and travel expenses for North America.
The layoffs will take place between March and July as operations phase down, according to a company notice sent to the Texas Workforce Commission.
The employees will receive severance pay and other assistance, according to the company statement.
