The ownership group expected to relocate the Sacramento Kings to Seattle is targeting Spurs General Manager R.C. Buford to run its new franchise, according to Yahoo! Sports report.

The report said the new ownership group is looking to make a splash with the franchise's new direction and Buford along with former Indiana Pacers president Larry Bird have been mentioned as possible targets.

Yahoo! Sports reported a deal for Buford would have to be extraordinary and may need to include a small percentage of equity into the franchise.

Buford would also be allowed to have the final say on all basketball operations and decisions. Buford has been a part of the Spurs franchise since the mid-90s.
