SAN ANTONIO -

Stage 1 water rules are returning to San Antonio.

The San Antonio Water System announced Thursday that the water level in the Edwards Aquifer had fallen below 660 feet.

According to the city ordinances, State 1 rules go into effect when the daily water level falls below 660 feet. The water level must return and stay about 660 feet for 30 days for Stage 1 rules to be lifted.

Under State 1, outdoor watering with sprinklers or irrigation systems is allowed only before 10 a.m. and after 8 p.m. one day per week, as determined by the last number of your street address:

  • 0 or 1 - Monday
  • 2 or 3 - Tuesday
  • 4 or 5 - Wednesday
  • 6 or 7 - Thursday
  • 8 or 9 - Friday

Overnight watering is not allowed, and watering days end at midnight.

Watering with a handheld hose, soaker hose, or drip irrigation system is still allowed at any time.
