Police say they received a call for a strong odor Sunday evening that led them to a woman's decomposing body on the Southwest Side.

Investigators said a resident who lives in the 600 block of Carroll Avenue noticed the smell coming from a vacant lot around 7 p.m.

She notified authorities who discovered the woman's nude body in some overgrown bushes near a fence. Police believe the woman had been there for 2 to 3 days.

Her name and age were not released. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.
