Sushi Zushi CEO to address ICE audit
The CEO of Sushi Zushi will address the media Tuesday after the temporary closure of the popular restaurant across the state.
The San Antonio-based chain closed all its Texas locations Friday after learning the company was being audited by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
In a written statement, Sushi Zushi said the decision to close its restaurants was made by executive management, due to an “unanticipated internal reaction to news of a routine I-9 audit.”
Several employees did not report to work after learning of the audit, the company said.
Sushi Zushi CEO Alfonso Tomita will address the issues in a press conference Tuesday morning at 10 a.m.
The company says it has made its best efforts to comply with immigration requirements.
