Suspect arrested in fatal West Side shooting on San Horacio Avenue
Victim identified as Tammy Ramirez, 25; San Antonio police track suspect to apartment on North Knoll
A man shot and killed a 25-year-old woman identified as Tammy Ramirez in the front yard of her mother's West Side home Monday evening, San Antonio police say.
San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said the shooting occurred around 6:30 p.m. in the front yard of a home on the 400 block of San Horacio Avenue, and was witnessed by the victim's mother.
Chief McManus said the suspect and Ramirez were arguing before the suspect, also 25, fatally shot her in the chest.
Initially, the relationship between the suspect and victim was unclear. "We don't know what exactly the relationship was. It was either her husband, boyfriend or common law," McManus said.
The suspect fled after the shooting, but officers tracked him down at the Saddle Ridge apartments on the 5700 block of North Knoll.
Police have not released the suspect's name, or details on criminal charges.
