SAPD: Man punches store clerk, steals flat irons
A San Antonio man is accused of punching a store clerk during a robbery at a beauty supply store.
According to an arrest affidavit, a store clerk told police that Steven Ruiz, 30, punched her in the mouth when she tried to stop him from stealing.
Police were called to Sally’s Beauty Supply on SE Military Drive Tuesday to investigate the robbery.
An arrest affidavit stated the clerk saw Ruiz walk into the store and offered to help him.
Instead, he grabbed three flat irons off a shelf and headed toward the door, the affidavit stated.
The clerk said she tried to block his path at the door and Ruiz hit her and walked out, the affidavit stated.
The affidavit stated police showed the clerk a photo lineup the following day and she identified Ruiz.
According to the affidavit, police believe he used the same method in another robbery recently.
