SAN ANTONIO -

Maria Delgado, 30, is charged with stealing from someone who she knows while that Northeast side woman was in the hospital.

The 43-year-old victim called San Antonio police late last month, stating that while she was in the hospital following a medical emergency, someone had broken into her home on Colita Street and stolen jewelry and money.

Police said the victim told them that while she was having that medical emergency, she had accidentally broken out a window on her front door, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

She said she was rushed to a hospital for treatment and remained there for two days, the affidavit stated.

A neighbor told investigators that, during that time frame, he saw Delgado walk up to the front door, the affidavit stated.

The neighbor told police he recognized Delgado because she had been to the house in the past.

Police said they found some of the stolen jewelry at an East Side pawn shop, as well as information showing Delgado is the person who pawned it. She has been arrested on a charge of burglary.
