Texas Senate candidates show up at same voting site
Surprise meeting between Wentworth, Campbell Tuesday
Voters casting ballots Tuesday morning at Alamo Heights High School got a chance to see both candidates in the District 25 state Senate race together.
The chance encounter between State Sen. Jeff Wentworth and challenger Dr. Donna Campbell took place as both candidates showed up to make one last campaign pitch to voters outside the voting site perimeter.
Though the pair waged a high-profile, often spirited runoff campaign, their polling site meeting consisted of small talk.
The discussion was “cordial,” according to Campbell.
During the campaign, Wentworth questioned Campbell’s residency and position on taxes.
“I’m trying to point out the differences between practical solutions and soundbites,” he told reporters at the polling site.
Campbell called her campaign positive and issue-oriented.
“We’re very proud of the race we’ve run,” she said. “We’ve kept a very positive campaign, not sacrificing any of our integrity and focusing on the issues.”
Each candidate expressed confidence of victory.
