SAN ANTONIO -

The following statements have been issued by Texas lawmakers in the wake of a fatal train-parade float collision in Midland.

U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison

"This was a horrible accident involving parade participants honoring veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Many of them have given so much in service to their country. It is a terrible tragedy. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. It is important that a full investigation be conducted to determine the cause of the crash."

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn

"This is a senseless tragedy that has claimed the life of at least one Texas hero, and I know the entire state of Texas joins me in prayer and mourning for these victims. May God comfort the loved ones of those killed and bring healing to the injured."
