Texas lawyer charged with bribery takes stand
Texas lawyer charged in bribery, judicial scandal says he likes big cases against corporations
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) — A Texas attorney charged with bribery and racketeering in cases linked to a disgraced judge has testified he enjoys taking big cases against corporations.
The Valley Morning Star (http://bit.ly/Yr5AHg ) reports Marc Rosenthal of Austin was scheduled to return to the stand Friday in Corpus Christi.
Rosenthal faces 13 corruption-related allegations linked to former state District Judge Abel Limas of Brownsville. The judge who lost in his 2008 re-election bid later pleaded guilty to racketeering and awaits sentencing.
Rosenthal took the stand late Thursday and said he loves "representing David against Goliath." The lawyer testified that he likes representing common, everyday families against big companies — especially when the corporations "are really wrong."
Prosecutors say Rosenthal conspired to bribe the judge and witnesses in state and federal cases.
