Texas man gets life sentence in killing of woman
Southeast Texas jury sentences man to life for kidnapping, murder of ex-girlfriend's mother
BRYAN, Texas (AP) — A Brazos County jury has sentenced to life in prison a man who kidnapped his ex-girlfriend's mother and stabbed her more than 30 times.
The Bryan Eagle reports (http://bit.ly/ZDKnNk ) 45-year-old Stanley Wayne Robertson took Annie Mae Toliver from the parking lot of a department store in College Station and repeatedly stabbed her before dumping her body 160 miles away in Fort Worth. He repeatedly called his former girlfriend during the drive to tell her his intention to kill her mother. He murdered Toliver in 2010 as revenge after her daughter split with Robertson.
Robertson, who's not eligible for parole, was convicted of murder Feb. 7.
Prosecutors had sought the death penalty but the jury Wednesday appeared to settle on the life sentence after hearing testimony that Robertson is mentally disabled.
