Texas woman killed by runaway truck at car wash
Juana Gonzalez struck by truck at Conroe car wash
A family's quick errand at a car wash in Conroe ended in tragedy. Investigators said 72-year-old Juana Gonzalez died in an accident at the car wash Saturday.
According to investigators, Gonzalez was in town from Mexico, visiting relatives.
Police said the family stood in the parking lot, waiting for their car to be detailed as other vehicles were placed on the car wash track
One of the employees of the car wash put a truck into the car wash and accidentally left it in drive instead of in neutral. Officers said that mistake sent the black pick-up truck barreling off the car wash track, right toward the family.
Investigators said one man was able to shove his pregnant wife out of the way as he also jumped to safety.
But officers said Gonzalez couldn't escape the trucks path. The pick-up ran her over and then hit a tree.
Emergency crews arrived to help, but police said Gonzalez died at the scene.
Officers said they are reviewing surveillance video from the car wash, but so far, they are calling it an unfortunate accident. No charges are anticipated at this time.
