Antonio Maldonado Jr.
SAN ANTONIO -

A 19-year-old woman told a jury Wednesday that she was sexually assaulted for years by a 51-year-old man beginning when she was 8-years-old.

"He was like a monster," said the woman, who was sobbing and fighting back tears.

The prosecution witness told jurors that the defendant, Antonio Maldonado Jr., first fondled her and then eventually raped her and her cousin.

"I felt bad. Why was this happening? I was just little. I had so many dreams," she said.

Maldonado was on parole during the time that the alleged rapes occurred from 2005 to 2007 after serving seven years in prison for sexual assault of a child.

The defendant, who is legally blind, faces 16 counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child charges.

If Maldonado is found guilty, he will be given an automatic life prison sentence because of the previous conviction.

Testimony will continue Thursday in the 186th District Court with Judge Maria Teresa Herr presiding.
