SAN ANTONIO -

A driver was hospitalized after his pickup truck bounced off a bridge and crashed into a guardrail early Thursday morning.

According to San Antonio police, the 31-year-old driver was headed south on Moursund near West Ansley around 2 a.m. when he lost control of the pickup truck and wrecked.

Police said it took paramedics nearly 30 minutes to get him out of the truck. His condition was not known as 7 a.m. Thursday.

The impact of the crash was so hard, one of the pickup truck's wheels flew off and landed in the bottom of a creek, police said.

Police said speed was a factor in the crash, but there was no word if alcohol was involved.
