Two families in New Braunfels are dealing with tragedy after an overnight car wreck leaves two women dead.
It happened just after midnight on Friday on Loop 337 in New Braunfels.
The victims have been identified as 21-year-old Samantha Summer Rose and 20-year-old Ashley Dawn Robles.
According to police, the women were driving eastbound on Loop 337 when the driver lost control of the vehicle.
The car narrowly missed a tree, instead hitting several signs before colliding with a utility pole.
The accident happened right in front of New Braunfels High School.
Officers in the area responded to the sound of the crash and quickly arrived but the two girls died on the scene.
On Friday afternoon, several of their friends came to lay flowers and wreaths to honor the girls.
"They were best friends and Ashley was always willing to listen and cared about people and had a very huge heart and loved everybody," said Curtis Wilson, a friend of both victims. "Sam was just full of life and (she was) vivacious and just full if laughter. It's hard to see two people that you know and love so much move on."
Several people said speeding along the stretch of road where the accident occurred is fairly common and this isn't the first wreck they've seen out here.
