Waitress at well-known restaurant dies after crashing into pole
Lorraine Tamez leaves behind 4 children
A 42-year-old woman died last night after she crashed into a utility pole on Braun Road near 1560, causing it to snap.
The Bexar County Sheriff's Office says she was speeding when she hit the pole and that the impact was enough to break off the top of a second pole.
The woman, Lorraine Tamez, leaves behind four children between the ages of 12 and 23.
"She was just loved and just a wonderful person to her family, her friends, her kids. Her kids meant everything to her. Her kids were just everything," longtime friend Celia Huffaker said.
On Wednesday, her family and friends were still in shock over losing a woman who loved life so much.
"She was so bubbly, always laughing. She was just full of life. She was just a beautiful person, very loving, very giving to all her friends," Huffaker said.
That personality is what made her a popular waitress at the popular San Antonio restaurant Good Time Charlie's for more than five years.
On Wednesday, management broke the news to her friends at work.
"She's got a lot of regular customers, a lot of family that loves her there, lots of support from her coworkers," Huffaker said.
Good Time Charlie's is working on a fund in Tamez's honor that will help her family.
