Waste site opens for appliances, furniture, bulky trash
City says residents can drop junk off for free
Old appliances, beat up furniture, junk car parts and other large trash now have a place to go.
The city's new bulky items waste site opened Saturday at 1800 E. Bitters.
City solid waste staffers say the facility can handle the big, bulky stuff like refrigerators and couches and car parts, all not previously accepted.
They say the city will recycle some of the large junk and dispose of the rest.
The site is free to use, but you have to bring your most recent CPS Energy bill showing the Solid Waste environmental fee.
Bulky items collection is available weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon.
