Wentworth to face Campbell in runoff; Jones out

SAN ANTONIO -

State Sen. Jeff Wentworth of San Antonio and emergency room physician Donna Campbell have advanced to a runoff for state Senate District 25.

Wentworth, an attorney from San Antonio, had been targeted by business groups for defeat. He will face Campbell on July 31.

Campbell has never held public office. She capitalized on a bitter campaign between Wentworth and former Texas Railroad Commissioner Elizabeth Ames Jones.

Campbell, who ran for Congress in 2010, moved to San Antonio to run for the state Senate seat that stretches from San Antonio to South Austin.
