Here's look at some events taking place across the San Antonio area this weekend.

The Alamo IMAX debuts one of nature’s most epic journeys, the mass migration of the monarch butterfly, in 3D this weekend. The critically acclaimed film, “Flight Of The Butterflies,” shows the yearlong annual migration cycle through the eyes of film crews that tracked the Monarchs’ journey from Canada, through the United States and all the way to a remote mountain range in Mexico. This Veteran’s Day weekend is military weekend at the Animal Defense League. As a thank you to those who’ve served, ADL is offering cat and dog adoptions to all active, retired and reserve duty military members. The organization will also be honoring some of their long-term or ‘veteran’ shelter dogs which will be available for a reduced fee. The adoption event is running Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 11300 Nacogdoches Road.

The San Antonio Rampage take the ice this Saturday night against the Toronto Marlies at the AT&T Center. The Rampage are hosting Face-Off Against Kids Cancer Night with Rampage players wearing special jerseys to be auctioned off after the game.  A portion of the proceeds will benefit Face-Off Against Kids Cancer and the Children's Hospital of San Antonio. Tickets to the 7 p.m. game start at $10 and are available here.

Runners from all over the country will be pounding the pavement this weekend for this year’s Rock-N-Roll Marathon. The kids’ race is on Saturday and the Marathon and Half Marathon for grownups are Sunday morning. Online registration is now closed and while there is no race day registration, registration for the Marathon, Half Marathon and Bike Tour will be available at the Health & Fitness Expo on Friday and Saturday. The Mini-Marathon and Two-Person Half Marathon Relay are sold out.
