Summer is officially under way and there are plenty of things to help beat the heat the Alamo City this weekend.

Rock fans are rejoicing over the Van Halen concert this weekend.  The legendary band hits the AT&T Center on Friday.  Doors open at 7:30pm.  Plenty of tickets are still available.  Click here for tickets.

On Saturday at the AT&T Center, the popular Cirque du Soleil brings its latest show to San Antonio, Michael Jackson, The Immortal World Tour.  The newest feature is tribute to the late King of Pop and has cirque performance set to his greatest hits.  Click here for tickets.

The public is invited to the Rib-Eating Contest between the San Antonio Police and Fire Departments.  It's on Saturday at 12:00pm at the Texas Roadhouse on San Pedro Avenue.  All proceed go the 100 Club of San Antonio, which helps families of officers and firefighters killed in the line of duty.  Click here for more information.

The San Antonio Film Festival continues this weekend.  Independent filmmakers from the Alamo City and from around the world present their works across five locations throughout the city.   The festival runs through Sunday.  Click here for a full schedule and ticket prices.

It's live music for a good cause on Sunday as JOVEN host is first annual benefit concert at Floore's Country Store in Helotes.  The show is from 1:00pm-5:00pm and features Mario Flores and the Soda Creek Band, the Jonathan Moody Band, Travis Simpson, and the Bexar County Skill Cranes.  All proceeds benefit JOVAN, a nonprofit organization that helps low-income children in San Antonio.
