SAN ANTONIO -

From Easter bonnets to bluebonnets, it's time to get ready for the next spring tradition: Prom.

Long or short, formal or casual, prom requires savvy shopping and buyers can find some surprising finds at unusual locations.

The perfect dress and the right price might just be waiting for buyers at Goodwill.

A beautiful dress with some heels could cost between $30 and $40 total.

Designer dresses along with a clutch will run only $45, making Goodwill a good place to checkout.

"Pretty close to the $25 price point. With shoes there are some fluctuations. If you want to bling out your prom dress with your own accessories and jewelry, it's a perfect idea to do that," said Jason Meza with Goodwill Stores.

Julian Gold Inc on McCullough Avenue has some nice surprises on the sale rack. A full length chiffon was priced at $124. Medium length was about $55.

Julian Gold's dress buyer Fran Stamper says store shopping for prom is in this year probably due to last year's internet shopping problems.

"This is one of those years where it is spectacularly busy. We just had more requests than we ever anticipated," said Stamper, Julian Gold Buyer

Stamper says this year buyers should think sweet and look for colors of sherbert, peaches, and mints, and icy aquas.

Buyers who still want to shop online should make sure they do so early and be aware of the return policy. Fit and quality are two things that cannot be guaranteed online.
