Witnesses help investigators find 2 arson suspects
Thomas Reed, 54, John Donohue, 61, both have previous arrests
Witnesses have led investigators to Thomas Reed, 54, and John Donohue, 61, suspects in connection with two separate suspicious fires. Both men were arrested this week on a charge of arson.
According to an arrest warrant affidavit, two witnesses told San Antonio arson investigators that John Donohue admitted to them that he set fire to items inside a Northwest Side home on Jan. 22.
The fire caused about $15,000 to the home in the 6300 block of Scrub Jay.
Witnesses also gave investigators information in the case of Thomas Reed.
Investigators said they reported seeing Reed set fire to a storage building in the 500 block of Gillespie Street on Monday.
Both suspects have previous criminal records that include arrests for drunken driving, among other things. Reed is also on the state’s sex offender registry.
He is listed as a “high risk” offender as the result of a 1996 conviction in the sexual assault of a 5-year-old boy.
