San Antonio police say a woman identified as 90-year-old Erna Zwicke has died after being hit by a vehicle while crossing a street.

A police report states Zwicke was crossing Fredericksburg Road in motorized wheelchair just after 7 a.m. Tuesday when she rolled in front of a vehicle that had just topped a hill.

The report said Zwicke's hearing was impaired and she apparently didn't hear the car approach or the driver sound her horn. The driver was unable to change lanes and avoid the impact.

Zwicke died shortly upon arrival at University Hospital nearby.

Police say the driver of the vehicle that struck the woman stopped and no charges were filed. The accident site does not have a crosswalk.
