Jessica Olsen is facing criminal charges in a “doctor shopping” case in which state investigators allege that she visited 28 different doctors in order to obtain prescription drugs.
An arrest warrant affidavit stated that the 30-year-old visited all of the doctors within a two month period last year –from August to October—and obtained 28 prescriptions for hydrocodone.
The drug is a schedule II controlled substance, which means there is some monitoring of who gets it and how much is taken.
The affidavit stated that investigators with the Department of Public Safety interviewed the doctors who wrote the prescriptions for Olsen, and most of them were surprised to find out she was visiting other doctors.
Investigators said Olsen did not inform any of them that she was being treated elsewhere. During that two month period, Olsen filled prescriptions for about 680 tablets of hydrocodone, the affidavit stated.
Investigators said they found out some of the prescriptions were written just days apart, and some of them were overlapping, the affidavit stated.
