Woman dies in Atascosa wreck

One woman is dead, killed in a collision in Atascosa County.

The wreck happened a little before 8 a.m. on Wednesday on Highway 97, about four miles west of Jourdanton.

State troopers say 31-year-old Yuri Elizabeth Casares was heading east when she swerved to avoid some debris in the road.

She over-corrected and went into a skid, sliding across the highway and into oncoming traffic, where her car was broadsided by an a pick-up truck.

Casares was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two passengers in the truck were taken to area hospitals, one of them in serious condition.
