Woman fights back during home invasion
Police: Kick to the groin sent attacker fleeing
A woman in her mid-30s fought back against a man trying to assault her after he walked into her apartment Thursday afternoon.
It happened at the Mission Ranch apartment complex on Babcock around 1 p.m.
Police said the woman was exercising on a nearby path and returned home to her apartment. When she got home, she walked inside, but forgot to lock her door.
As she went to go lock it, it was pushed open by her attacker, who police said followed her to her apartment.
He pulled a knife and she fought back, suffering several cuts and bruises in the process.
After a brief struggle, she kicked him in the groin, and he took off.
“What’s concerning is the brazenness of the attack, that it happened in broad daylight, and the apparent pre-meditation of it all,” said San Antonio police Chief William McManus.
McManus assured the public that immediate tactical action would be taken to apprehend the criminal.
A series of attacks on women have occurred in the same area over the last several months.
This attack, according to police, does not appear to be related to those.
