Woman killed in hit-and-run identified
Suspect in Amanda Garcia's death held on $120,000 bond
A woman who was killed while crossing General McMullen early Sunday morning has been identified.
Amanda Garcia, 62, died and Martha Reyes, 48, was critically injured when they were struck by a Chevy Cobalt driven by Marcela Roman in the 1300 block of General McMullen.
Police say the 29-year-old Roman (pictured) was speeding down the road, and slammed on her brakes before hitting the women.
Witnesses told police Roman got out of her car, but left after seeing what she'd done.
A witness followed Roman a mile and a half down General McMullen until they saw her turn into an apartment complex and park her car. That same witness went back to the scene to tell police where she was.
Police went to the apartment complex where they found the Chevy Cobalt involved in the crash.
They said Roman seemed intoxicated and confused.
She's been charged with intoxication manslaughter, intoxication assault and two counts of failure to stop and render aid. She's being held on $120,000 bond.
