SAN ANTONIO -

A shooting in east Bexar County led to the arrest of a woman and sent three people to the hospital.

Shots were reported Tuesday evening around 6 p.m. in the 6700 block of Joe Louis Drive, officials said.

Deputies said a female with a shotgun opened  fire and hit three people, a 48-year-old man, a 44-year-old man and a 31-year-old female.

A spokesman said the alleged female shooter then barricaded herself inside the home.

"The shot appears to be a bird shot. The female was hit in the hands and the face, the first male was hit once in the neck, once in the hand and once in the upper arm, and the second male was hit in the leg," said Bexar County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Paul Berry.

One male was sent to San Antonio Military Medical Center and the other male and female were sent to Northeast Baptist Hospital.

SWAT was called in around 8 p.m. to try and make contact with the female shooter. She came out of the home a short time later and was taken into custody.

No word on what caused the shooting or how the victims and shooter are related.

At this time, it remains under investigation if the shooting took place inside or outside the home.
