Woman sentenced to 15 years in child sex case
Kristen Bush recorded sex abuse on cell phone
A San Antonio woman who made a video recording as she sexually abused a 6 year old little girl was sentenced to 15 years in prison Thursday according to the terms of a plea bargain agreement.
"I think a cap of 15 years is an unbelievable plea bargain that I will regretfully follow," Judge Angus McGinty said as he sentenced Kristen Lea Bush.
Bush, 30, admitting recording the abuse on her cell phone and then sending it to a man she said she had once dated.
Explaining her action to McGinty, Bush said "I’ve always been a very co-dependent person and I let it get to me and break me down as I lost everything I had."
McGinty said she recently lost her job and her husband left her.
"Losing your job and your husband walking out on you doesn't justify in any way, shape, or form what happened," McGinty told Bush.
Bush and the child's father asked McGinty to give the woman probation instead of prison time.
"I take full responsibility for everything I did," Bush told McGinty. "But I don't think TDC will benefit anybody in this case."
McGinty disagreed as he sentenced Bush.
"Miss Bush mentioned one thing that TDC wouldn't benefit anyone. I disagree with you Miss Bush," McGinty said. "It would benefit society."
