SAN ANTONIO -

Two people were hospitalized and two more are on the run after a wrong-way crash on the Northwest Side late Wednesday night.

A pickup truck with three people was headed in the wrong direction and slammed into a car head on in the 3200 block of Cherry Ridge near Loop 410 and Callaghan Road, San Antonio police said.

Both passengers in the truck were injured but fled the accident scene on foot. Police said they left a blood trail, but officers were unable to locate them.

The driver of the car that was struck was an 80-year-old man. Police said he was taken to the hospital with chest pains.

The wrong-way driver was injured and taken to University Hospital for treatment.

San Antonio police said he would be forced to do a mandatory blood draw, and could be facing intoxication assault charges.
